Home Business Resources, Incorporation, and Planning Links by State.
These home business resources will provide you
your state business license, incorporation, and planning information resource
links to start your home business. These state links, and the business information resources they
provide, should be considered before planning to start any home business in your state.
Local counties and cities will have to be contacted by
phone or by going to the actual offices and standing in line to find
your home business license requirements. I have been there, done
that, and my fun meter had been pegged (not fun!).
Some states have better business information and planning resources than others. In doing your homework prior to starting your own
home business, I suggest the possibility of visiting some states other than your own. By
doing this you may be able to better plan your home business goals and
strategies due to the different resources each state provides.
If you do visit some other state pages, remember to
follow your home state rules and regulations for starting your home
business. The links below will take you to your state business
information pages. I try to keep these links updated and working,
but occasionally the webmasters may move some pages around. Please
let me know if they do not work.
A reminder, these links will pop
open a new window on your computer, so... if they don't work your pop up
blocker may be on and not allowing them to work.
I had trouble finding the information I wanted when it came time to
incorporate and get all the local county and city licensing straight. I had spent
hours looking and searching for information online just to get really
frustrated and annoyed. I finally had to decide to get some help, and hated
it, knowing that I really like to do things myself.
I used Yahoo!® to
search "help to form a corporation" and found too many
links to different companies that would assist me.
The Company Corporation
web site caught my attention and I downloaded a free e-book that answered
some
questions just by quickly scanning through it.
I called them, a representative actually answered the phone and answered a
couple more of questions for me. I found out that it was not recommended
that I be my own registered agent and why. I actually waited and filed online
a day later, which was also easy.
The Company Corporation
can help you form your corporation
and obtain your local business licenses. It will cost a little bit more money
for their quality services, but saving time and avoiding aggravation will be well worth
it.
Or . . . waste time and become aggravated like I did and do your own
searching and research.
Don't forget! Once you have your corporate documents
in hand, go to the
IRS web site and get your EIN number (Employer
Identification Number aka Federal Tax ID
number).
